Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I)

**Description:**

Warrior I is a powerful standing pose that strengthens the legs, improves balance, and opens the chest and shoulders. It is named after the Hindu warrior god, Virabhadra.

**Instructions:**

1. **Start in Mountain Pose (Tadasana).** Stand with your feet together, arms at your sides, and your body aligned.
2. **Step back with your right foot.** Take a large step back with your right foot, turning it out to a 45-degree angle. Your left foot should remain pointing forward.
3. **Bend your left knee.** Bend your left knee and lower your body until your left thigh is parallel to the floor. Your left shin should be perpendicular to the floor.
4. **Extend your arms.** Extend your arms out to the sides, parallel to the floor, with your palms facing down.
5. **Engage your core.** Draw your belly button towards your spine to engage your core muscles.
6. **Look forward.** Keep your spine straight and gaze forward.
7. **Hold the pose.** Hold the pose for 5-10 breaths.
8. **Release** Return to Mountain Pose and repeat on the other side.

**Tips:**

* Keep your back straight and your shoulders relaxed.
* Don’t let your front knee go past your toes.
* If you have knee issues, keep your front knee slightly behind your toes.
* If you feel any pain, stop and adjust your form.
